Absences
What about absences?
Sickness
We understand that from time to time people are sick and need time off. Should this happen to you then you must:

Ring us before 9.30am each day and speak to a member of staff or leave a message on voice mail, explaining what is wrong with you and when you expect to return.
(If you are unable to phone yourself then you must get someone to phone on your behalf).
Complete a First Rung self certification form (on the reverse side of your time sheet) on your return for absences of up to 7 consecutive days (including weekends).
Bring in a certificate from your Doctor for absences of 7 days or more.
There are additional rules if you are receiving EMA. For example if you are absent for a whole week you are not entitled to ANY EMA for that week.
Authorised Absence
You are allowed to have reasonable time off to attend job interviews or hospital appointments. If you need time off then you must:
Give us Three Days' Notice wherever possible and proof of your appointment so that you can be paid.
Doctors and Dentist appointments should be booked outside training hours wherever possible and evidence of attendance MUST be provided.
Unauthorised Absences
Your training will be terminated if you have 10 successive working days of unauthorised absence.
Note:
Good attendance and timekeeping are essential if you wish to gain and keep a job and reflect a positive attitude to your work. No employer will keep a member of staff who is unreliable.
Persistent unauthorised absence and poor timekeeping will not be tolerated and may result in you being terminated from the programme.
