Intermediate - Accounts/Finance Assistant - Level 2 (equivalent to five GCSEs)
This is an excellent starting point for anyone who has just left school or college and would like a career in Accounting and Finance. The purpose of the AAT level 2 Apprenticeship is to gain, underpinning core accounting knowledge and skills needed to progress within the industry or to further study and progress to the AAT level 3 Apprenticeship qualification.
Throughout the duration of the course you will cover the core accounting units which are externally assessed by the AAT awarding body. As well as working within the industry, you will be expected to complete 20% of your working week studying off the job training and working towards your portfolio and End Point Assessment.
During the apprenticeship you’ll develop all the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to be competent within the industry. As an apprentice you’ll be working alongside other professionals, in an environment where you’ll gain finance experience and complete your Level 2 AAT qualification, whilst earning a wage.
Advanced - Accounting Apprenticeship - Level 3 (equivalent to 2 A levels)
The AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting offers technical training in accounting and is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy and finance.
The purpose of the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting Apprenticeship is to provide students with the specialist knowledge and skills required for the industry either in an accounting or finance role, or to enable progression to further study in accountancy and finance.
This qualification is a progression route for students who have achieved either the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting or the AAT Foundation Diploma in Accounting and Business. It is also suitable for those who are at a more intermediate level and looking to develop their skills in accounting, or for those who have already started working in finance and who have a need and desire to attain formal recognition of their skills.
During the apprenticeship you will develop all the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to be competent within the industry. As an apprentice you will be working alongside other professionals, in an environment where you will gain finance experience and complete your Level 3 AAT qualification, whilst earning a wage.
Level 2 Course Outline
A significant amount of the job training is undertaken in the workplace.
This is a demanding but interesting course which should be achieved in 12 - 18 months whilst gaining valuable workplace experience.
Level 2 Account/Finance Assistant course work includes:
• Bookkeeping transactions
• Bookkeeping controls
• Elements of costing
• Working effectively in Finance
• Using accouting software
Level 3 Course Outline
A significant amount of the job training is undertaken in the workplace. This is a demanding but interesting course which should be achieved in 18 months whilst gaining valuable workplace experience.
Level 3 Assistant Accountant course work includes:
• Advanced Book Keeping
• Final Accounts Preparation
• Management Accounting Costing
• Indirect Tax (VAT)
• Ethics for Accountants
GCSE English - level 4 (C) or above#
GCSE Maths - level 4 (C) or above
5 GCSEs, Including English and Maths -level 4 (C) or above
