NCFE Certificate working with Young Children (Early Years) Level 1  

The Early Years programme covers 4 units working with children aged one to eight years of age.  As with other First Rung programmes, your progress and abilities will be assessed on placement by a vocational assessor who will visit you regularly to monitor your progress towards your qualification.

The skills on this Early Years Level 1 qualification include: 

Create a safe environment for children.

Work as part of a team.

Communication.

Contribute  to opportunity of equality in support of children's development.

Provide a range of appropriate play activities for children.

These skills also include an additional subject of literacy or numeracy.

 

Learners can move on to achieve an NVQ Level 2 in Child Care Learning and Development. Awarding body City & Guilds.

This qualification requires the completion of 7 units, 6 are manadatory and 1 is optional.

These are 6 mandatory units which include:

 

Prepare and Maintain the environment to meet children's needs.

Help to keep children safe.

Support children's development.

Prepare and maintain environment.

Support Chilren's play and learning.

 

Optional units include:

Contribute to the effectiveness of teamwork.

Support the development of babies and children under 3 years.

Support a child with disabilities or special educational needs.

Support children's and young people's play.
