6 weeks awareness programme: - Motor vehicle maintenance

Learner arrangements:
Learners need to have easy access to NLGGTA premises at Ponders End,Learners to bring a packed lunch and will remain in the workshop facility.
Learners will need robust footwear or, preferably, boots – NOT trainers.
NLGGTA arrangements:
The course will run Mondays 9.30 am to 3.30 pm with breaks and a short 30 min lunch break.
Overalls will be provided and personal items kept in a locker.
Learners will build a portfolio of work and knowledge gained.
Programme:
Week 1 Induction and PPE arranged.
Week 2 Purpose, function and layout of:
Engine, Suspension, Steering and braking systems.
Week 3 Measurement and use of:
Tools, Equipment and components.
Week 4 Tyres, Exhausts, and Batteries.
Week 5 Servicing and Valeting.
Week 6 Electronics:
Advanced vehicle systems, Engine Management, Air Bags.

Workshop Practise each week will relate to inspection/demonstration an exercises.
The programme is rolling and will allow Learners to join and leave throughout the 6 week period from their start date.
This is a “first-come-first-served” programme and course numbers are restricted to 8 at any time therefore dates may need to be advanced if bookings reach these numbers.
