Naomi's Success story

My name is Naomi and I joined First Rung in October 2006.

 Naomi - good news

I came here because I wanted to do an apprenticeship in Administration, but Connexions said I couldn’t do my apprenticeship because I didn’t have a Grade C in my Maths and English, so I came to First Rung to get to a higher level in my Maths and English.

But that’s not the only thing I gained, I also got my ICT, work experience and First Aid Certificate. First Rung were very supportive to me and helped me with my personal issues.

The sessions were really good because they were small groups so I could concentrate and have fun at the same time. The staff were (and still are!) really friendly and the atmosphere is great to be in. I made new friends when I came to First Rung and the other learners were really easy to get on with.

I completed my work experience at First Rung which was really good and I learnt something new everyday. I really enjoyed my work experience at First Rung. I got to know how the company was run and got to know all the staff and other learners and really became a part of it all.

In August 2007 I spoke to Connexions and I was then able to do my apprenticeship. I was so happy I told the First Rung Centre Manager that I could go on to do my apprenticeship now!  She then offered me an opportunity I just couldn’t turn down she said “well, would you like to do your apprenticeship here?” and so I agreed to it and now I am employed at First Rung as their Project Officer whilst doing my apprenticeship too, and First Rung were the ones who managed to help me get were I am now.

Thank you what would I do with out them all.If you would like to ask me any questions about my experience with First Rung then feel free.
