At First Rung we offer a number of vocational and basic skills courses to support young people aged 14 – 23.
Observation of Teaching and Learning
All teaching and learning activities both within the classroom and ‘on the job’ are observed and graded in line with the OfSTED Common Inspection Framework. Graded observations take place twice per year and are directly monitored by our Quality Improvement Manager.
Feedback and Reporting
The attendance of each young person is actively monitored throughout the learning day with daily phone calls to the young person, key workers and family members (where appropriate) to encourage attendance.
Weekly attendance registers are provided to key contacts at each school.
Progress and Pastoral support reviews take place every month. The outcomes of all reviews are shared with schools on a monthly basis.
We work hard to ensure our learners are enrolled on a personalised programme of learners which best matches their interests, needs, potential and ambitions.
We have a wide network of partner providers and support agencies to link to once a learner has completed their course with First Rung.
We provided dedicated moving on support to identify the best progression destination for each learner alongside impartial information, advice and guidance.
First Rung is committed to safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults and has established and proven monitoring procedures to ensure the safety of all young people on all our programmes. We have two fully trained Child Protection Officers and all staff are Enhanced CRB checked.
