First Rung YES Programme

Supporting young people to progress onto jobs and training

Through its contract with Reed in Partnership, First Rung is delighted to be offering the YES programme to young people who are not in employment, education, or training (NEET). The programme specifically targets its provision towards young people affected by social, emotional or mental health issues and those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

The YES programme offer

We recognise that young people affected by social, emotional and mental health issues and those with SEND will require intensive support to achieve sustained education, training or employment.  To meet their needs, YES offers participants targeted help which will enable them acquire the skills and attributes need to progress sustainably to an employment, education or training (EET) outcome.

While on programme, young people will have access to a comprehensive range of provision including:

  • Advice and guidance
  • Employability skills and work preparation
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Confidence building activities
  • Personal development support
  • Pastoral and lifeskills support
  • Support with development of workplace attributes such as resilience, reliability and team-working skills

  • Vocational exploration and tasters
  • CV building and interview skills
  • Work experience opportunities
  • Support with applications for apprenticeship, work and further education opportunities
  • Continued support to participants who progress to an employment, education or training destination.

Participants must be aged 16-24, NEET and resident in one of the London boroughs. They need to provide some evidence of being affected by social, emotional and mental health issues or having some form of learning need. First Rung will be happy to provide further guidance and help in this matter to organisations referring clients to the programme.
