What the Government says

The Chancellor and the Secretary of State are debating the incredible skills challenges facing this country. 

The Leitch report sets out both the ambition for Britain to be a world leader in skills by the year 2020 and the means for achieving those ambitions.   

The 14-19 reforms will make a major contribution to doing just that.    

One in four young people gives up on formal education at sixteen.  And often, these are the young people who don’t get the five good GCSE passes.
